Semicontinuous limits of nets of continuous functions

In this paper we present a topology on the space of real-valued functions defined on a functionally Hausdorff space X that is finer than the topology of pointwise convergence and for which (1) the closure of the set of continuous functions C(X) is the set of upper semicontinuous functions on X , and (2) the pointwise convergence of a net in C(X) to an upper semicontinuous limit automatically en...

Approximately generalized additive functions in several variables

The goal of  this paper is to investigate the solutionand stability in random normed spaces, in non--Archimedean spacesand also in $p$--Banach spaces and finally the stability using thealternative fixed point of generalized additive functions inseveral variables.

Approximately Continuous Transformations

1. An interesting class of real functions of a single real variable, the approximately continuous functions, was introduced by Denjoy [l] in his work on derivatives. The two principal facts discovered by Denjoy are that these functions are of Baire class 1 and have the Darboux property. Ridder [2] showed that the arguments of Denjoy apply to real functions of n variables. In this paper we discu...

Maximization of Approximately Submodular Functions

We study the problem of maximizing a function that is approximately submodular under a cardinality constraint. Approximate submodularity implicitly appears in a wide range of applications as in many cases errors in evaluation of a submodular function break submodularity. Say that F is ε-approximately submodular if there exists a submodular function f such that (1−ε)f(S) ≤ F (S) ≤ (1+ε)f(S) for ...

Inverse Limits of Upper Semi-continuous Set Valued Functions

In this article we define the inverse limit of an inverse sequence (X1, f1), (X2, f2), (X3, f3), . . . where each Xi is a compact Hausdorff space and each fi is an upper semi-continuous function from Xi+1 into 2i . Conditions are given under which the inverse limit is a Hausdorff continuum and examples are given to illustrate the nature of these inverse limits.
